In the early 1900s several Lithuanians relocated to the Lanarkshire area of Scotland (Bellshill, Glasgow, etc). They worked in coal mines and iron/steel mills. My Great grandparents are among them. This is a record of my activities, discoveries, and unanswered questions in the search to pull up the roots of the family tree. Do any names here mean anything to you? Marriages I need to research more

These appeared in indexes as I found other things. I need to view the actual records to see if these fit in anywhere at all. Just logging here for a record until then.

1917
Vincas Jimkaitas
Elizabeth Raskilis
Bellshill
625/03
0073

I believe there is a chance this MAY be Elzbieta Rackeliute Jonkaiciai (The older sister who returned to Lithuania) EDITED (This turned out to be a good lead. Record is logged in another post)

1905
Yuozas Dranginis
Ona Reclute
Bellshill
628/03
0067

I don't have a guess as to who this might be, but the "Reclute" seemed a variation of Rackeliute so I thought it might possibly fit in somewhere. Maybe a sister of Adomas Rackelis? EDITED This was not at all related to anything.

Death records - babies

These also I have not yet looked at the records, so I am unsure if they fit in.

1908
Uszule Klastaitis
female
Bellshill
Age 0

1910
Teresiska Klastaitis
Female
Bothwell
Age 0

These MAY be children born to Jurgis and Magdelena Klastaitis.

1928 Marriage Wincas Karasawiczus - Marijona Rackelene

1928
Wincas Karasawiczus
Marijona Rackelene
Bellshill
625/03
0025

I have only viewed index, not actual record yet.

This is Marijona's second marriage after Adomas Rackelis (first husband) died. Well... it's 14 years after he died, maybe it is her third marriage? Who knows. One of the mysteries I have is how many men Great Great Grandma married. ~laughs~

She would be about 57 years old here.

EDITED - ACTUAL RECORD INFO

Four older sisters...

From the quote on page 103, Grace's four older sisters were born in Lithuania and therefore had traveled from there to Scotland.

Grace was born in 1909, in Scotland, so the sisters were all born before then, and had arrived in Scotland before then.

Elzbieta, (Lizzie) was born in 1899 as seen on a picture of her gravestone.
Ona (referred to as Annie in family trees, pictures) was born in 1896-1897, 1889 (depending on dating of documents)
Margaret (Maggie) - still no information uncovered, not even sure of "real" name.
Susan - still no information uncovered, not even sure of "real" name.

These are the four older sisters referred to. These are the four older sisters who were all married to Lithuanian boys by 1917. These are the four older sisters whose husbands went off to fight for the British / Russian Allies in the war.

Elzbieta is the one sister whose husband was ever heard from again. He was not allowed to return to Scotland after the war. He settled in Lithuania and sent for Lizzie. She went and lived out her life in the homeland.
